Why Is This Free?

I want to let you into my space to try bookbinding without cost, so you know how it feels. I also teach paid workshops, and this is a chance to try my style first. And since you’re nearby, I’d love to connect more with my neighbors.

What You’ll Make

Two chain stitch books. The thin one (one signature) and the thick ones (multiple signatures):

  • Made from scraps (recycled paper and card stock)
  • Chain stitch visible on the spine as a decorative detail
  • This stitch allows space between signatures for photos, stickers, business cards, and more without the book swelling

What You’ll Learn

  • Essential bookbinding tools and materials
  • The basics of chain stitch binding method
  • How to apply the stitch to make a thicker, multi-signature book with your own creativity

What’s Included

All tools and materials used during the workshop

🎁 Prize Giveaway

Join for a chance to win a prize! If you’ve been curious about my handmade journal, this is a good way to see one up close. The winner will be announced at the end of the workshop.

Location

My home in Klahanie, Sammamish. Address shared after booking confirmation. It’s about 5 minutes away from Klahanie Shopping Center (map) with lots of parking.

What to Expect

  • *The focus is learning the binding method, not making a book with pretty materials*
  • A fun, hands-on afternoon
  • A small group setting with room for questions
  • A chance to connect with other neighbors who enjoy crafting
  • You’ll leave with your scrap-paper books and the skills to make more

Student Reviews

β€œI had such a great experience with this tiny book workshop. The small group setting made it feel really personal, and it was clear a lot of thought and care went into each session. There was plenty of one-on-one attention, and I never felt like just another participant the instructor really took the time to engage with everyone and tailor feedback.

It was not only informative but also a lot of fun. The environment was relaxed, supportive, and creative, which made it easy to stay engaged and inspired”

–Jenn Mohoric
β€œYou [Gift] did an excellent job preparing the materials and tools and walking us through very carefully so we could succeed. I've taught a little bit of crafting myself and realized how hard it is to break down complex skills into simple steps. I can recognize that you [Gift] have a unique skillset for teaching.”
